NHL Fantasy Start / Sit – 1/30

Pinterest

Here are your start / sit fantasy recommendations for the January 30th NHL games.

Please note that you should always start your star players. This list is here to help you if you have two similar players and are debating on which one to start.

While a player may be a “sit” recommendation, he should still be put in your lineup over a player without a game tonight. Accumulating stats takes priority over no stats at all.

Different factors go into picking start / sit candidates including strength of opponent, scoring categories, history vs opponent and sometimes, gut feelings. Take that into consideration before making your final decision.

Players are listed in no particular order.

NOTE: These recommendations are posted before the first game of the day. Some changes may be made if any major changes occur to NHL lineups such as injuries, scratches, or especially, starting goalies, once new information is received. Check back often for any changes, especially for late games.

Raphael Diaz – MON Jeff Petry – EDM
(Points in 5 of 6 games. 5 of 7 points on the PP) (Scoreless. 0 SOG last 2 games)
Jonas Brodin – MIN Zbynek Michalek – PHX
(Added value while playing on the top pair with Suter) (Will help in blocked shots but not much else)
Oliver Ekman-Larsson – PHX P.K. Subban – MON
(Points in 3 of last 4. 16 SOG in 6 games) (Will not start tonight)
Marc Methot  – OTT Erik Johnson  – COL
(Plenty of ice time. Solid numbers all around) (Just 1 point so far. Tough matchup)
Tom Gilbert – MIN Chris Phillips  – OTT
(5 points, 6 SOG last 3 games) (1 point this season. 0 pts, -3, 3 SOG last 3 games)

Start Sit
Devan Dubnyk – EDM Peter Budaj – MON
(2-1, 2.01 GAA, 98 saves on 104 shots in last 3 gms) (Draws tough opponent on the road in first start)
Roberto Luongo - VAN Semyon Varlamov – COL
(Gets the start tonight. 1.85 GAA in 2 starts this season) (0-3, 4.18 GAA on the road this season)
Chad Johnson – PHX Josh Harding – MIN
(Worth another look after SO in 1st start) (2-1, 3.25 GAA vs CHI last season. Tough matchup)

Remember, use this list as a guideline if you are debating between a few players to round out your lineup. Just because a star player appears on the “sit” list doesn’t necessarily mean you should sit that player if your other options aren’t decidedly better.

If you have any questions about your fantasy lineup, don’t hesitate to ask.

Good Luck!
