NHL Fantasy Start / Sit – 2/13

Here are your start / sit fantasy recommendations for the February 13th NHL games.

Please note that you should always start your star players. This list is here to help you if you have two similar players and are debating on which one to start. It can also help when deciding on whether or not to pick up a certain FA on days with a light schedule.

While a player may be a “sit” recommendation, he should still be put in your lineup over a player without a game. Accumulating stats takes priority over no stats at all.

Different factors go into picking start / sit candidates including strength of opponent, scoring categories, history vs opponent and sometimes, gut feelings. Take that into consideration before making your final decision.

NOTE: These recommendations are posted before the first game of the day. Some changes may be made if any major changes occur to NHL lineups such as injuries, scratches, or especially, starting goalies, once new information is received. Check back often for any changes, especially for late games.

Start Sit
Alex Steen – STL Michael Ryder – DAL
(7 points, 28 SOG last 6 games) (Only 2 points in last 8, 7 SOG in last 5 games)
Derek Roy – DAL Johan Franzen – DET
(6 points, 2 on the PP, last 5 games) (Will miss tonight’s game)
Damien Brunner – DET Milan Michalek – OTT
(Has a point in 9 of last 10 games. Lots of SOG) (2 points in last 7 after 6 gm pt streak to start season)
Jiri Hudler – CGY Valtteri Filppula – DET
(Points in 5 of 7 games played, 8 points overall) (Just 2 points in his last 6. Doesn’t offer much else)

Start Sit
Trevor Daley – DAL Paul Martin – PIT
(Playing better. 2 points – 1 PPG –  last 2 games) (Very inconsistent. Just 1 SOG last 6 games)
Jonathan Ericsson – DET Marc Methot – OTT
(2 G, 5 pts in last 6 games. Not a bad spot starter) (Scoreless in last 10 after a good start)
Dennis Wideman – CGY Mark Giordano – CGY
(5 pts, 2 on the PP, 16 SOG last 6 games) (Decent if you need hits or bk shots, nothing else)
Wade Redden – STL
(Will be a healthy scratch tonight)

NOTE: Some goalies for the later games have not been confirmed yet. Check back later as the Start / Sit for the goalies will be updated once goalies have been confirmed.

Start Sit
Marc-Andre Fleury – PIT Leland Irving – CGY
(Much better lately. OTT has scored 9 G last 6 gms) (Faces team that has scored 17 G in winning 5 of 6)

Remember, use this list as a guideline if you are debating between a few players to round out your lineup. Just because a star player appears on the “sit” list doesn’t necessarily mean you should sit that player if your other options aren’t overwhelmingly better.

If you have any questions about your fantasy lineup, don’t hesitate to ask.

Good Luck!
