Here are your start / sit fantasy recommendations for the February 2nd NHL games.
Please note that you should always start your star players. This list is here to help you if you have two similar players and are debating on which one to start.
While a player may be a “sit” recommendation, he should still be put in your lineup over a player without a game tonight. Accumulating stats takes priority over no stats at all.
Different factors go into picking start / sit candidates including strength of opponent, scoring categories, history vs opponent and sometimes, gut feelings. Take that into consideration before making your final decision.
Players are listed in no particular order.
NOTE: These recommendations are posted before the first game of the day. Some changes may be made if any major changes occur to NHL lineups such as injuries, scratches, or especially, starting goalies, once new information is received. Check back often for any changes, especially for late games.
Forwards
| Start | Sit | |
| Adam Henrique – NJ | R.J. Umberger – CBJ | |

| (Will be given a shot on the line with Malkin) | (Will be out again tonight) | |
| Matt Frattin – TOR | Gabriel Landeskog – COL | |

| (Still available in some leagues. 4 G, 6 pts in 7 gms) | (Still scoreless. 3 SOG last 3 games) | |
| John Mitchell – COL | Ray Whitney – DAL | |
| (Putting up solid numbers in most categories) | (Will not play. Placed on IR) |
Defensemen
| Start | Sit | |

| (One point in 5 of 7 games) | (Not putting up any numbers yet) | |
| P.K. Subban – MON | Jeff Petry – EDM | |
| (Will play his 1st game of the season today) | (Still scoreless. 3 SOG last 4 games) | |

| (Putting up solid numbers for a hot team) | (Hits, blocked shots, not much else. Tough matchup) | |
| John-Michael Liles – TOR | Joe Corvo – CAR | |
| (4 pts in last 4 games. Solid #’s all around) | (Not putting up numbers in any category) | |
| Derek Morris – PHX | Jay Bouwmeester – CGY | |
| (Will help in almost every category. 26 hits in 8 gms) | (Weak numbers all around. Tough matchup) |
Goalies
| Start | Sit | |
| Ray Emery – CHI | Steve Mason – CBJ | |
| (Gets the start against a weak CGY team) | (Gets the start today. 0-3, 2.97 GAA in 3 starts) | |
| Mathieu Garon – TB | Martin Biron – NYR | |
| (Tough matchup, but TB provides good chance at W) | (Starts on the road vs a red-hot TB team) | |
| Richard Bachman – DAL | Miikka Kiprusoff – CGY | |
| (Gets his first start of the season tonight) | (Tough matchup. 1-3-1, 3.76 GAA, .854 sv% overall) | |
Remember, use this list as a guideline if you are debating between a few players to round out your lineup. Just because a star player appears on the “sit” list doesn’t necessarily mean you should sit that player if your other options aren’t decidedly better.
If you have any questions about your fantasy lineup, don’t hesitate to ask.
Good Luck!
