NHL Fantasy Start / Sit – 2/3

Here are your start / sit fantasy recommendations for the February 3rd NHL games.

Please note that you should always start your star players. This list is here to help you if you have two similar players and are debating on which one to start.

While a player may be a “sit” recommendation, he should still be put in your lineup over a player without a game tonight. Accumulating stats takes priority over no stats at all.

Different factors go into picking start / sit candidates including strength of opponent, scoring categories, history vs opponent and sometimes, gut feelings. Take that into consideration before making your final decision.

Players are listed in no particular order.

NOTE: These recommendations are posted before the first game of the day. Some changes may be made if any major changes occur to NHL lineups such as injuries, scratches, or especially, starting goalies, once new information is received. Check back often for any changes, especially for late games.

Start Sit
Max Pacioretty  – MON Matt Cooke  – PIT
(Good chance of a return today. Monitor his status)  (Scoreless. Will help with hits and nothing else)
Stephen Weiss  – FLA Drew Stafford  – BUF
(Returns today after missing 4 games) (0 G, 3 pts in 8 games)
Marcus Foligno  – BUF Marcus Johansson  – WAS
(5 pts, 9 SOG, 9 hits last 4 games) (Not doing anything. Should be a sit on most nights)
Peter Mueller  – FLA Travis Zajac  – NJ
(One goal in three straight games) (Stalled after hot start. Just 1 pt, 6 SOG last 5 games)

Start Sit
Travis Hamonic  – NYI Tyler Myers  – BUF
(Will give you good numbers in most categories) (Still struggling offensively. -6, 2 SOG last 3 games)
Marek Zidlicky  – NJ Filip Kuba  – FLA
(Solid #’s all around. 4th on team in SOG and pts) (1 pt, -7, 4 SOG last 5 gms. Not much of anything else)
Christian Ehrhoff  – BUF John Carlson  – WAS
(5 pts, 14 SOG last 7 games)   (Getting plenty of chances but pts aren’t there yet)
P.K. Subban – MON Jordan Leopold  – BUF
(Looked good in 1st game back. Start from now on) (Slow start. 0 pts, -6, 4 SOG last 4 games)

Goalies

Start Sit
Tomas Vokoun  – PIT Braden Holtby  – WAS
(Gets the start today. Playing well) (Looked better last game, but gets tough opponent)
Johan Hedberg – NJ Jose Theodore – FLA
(3-0, 0.67 GAA, .970 Sv%, 1 SO last season vs NYI) (4.71 GAA last three games)

Remember, use this list as a guideline if you are debating between a few players to round out your lineup. Just because a star player appears on the “sit” list doesn’t necessarily mean you should sit that player if your other options aren’t decidedly better.

If you have any questions about your fantasy lineup, don’t hesitate to ask.

Good Luck!
