NHL Fantasy Start / Sit – 2/5

Pinterest

Here are your start / sit fantasy recommendations for the February 5th NHL games.

Please note that you should always start your star players. This list is here to help you if you have two similar players and are debating on which one to start.

While a player may be a “sit” recommendation, he should still be put in your lineup over a player without a game tonight. Accumulating stats takes priority over no stats at all.

Different factors go into picking start / sit candidates including strength of opponent, scoring categories, history vs opponent and sometimes, gut feelings. Take that into consideration before making your final decision.

Players are listed in no particular order.

NOTE: These recommendations are posted before the first game of the day. Some changes may be made if any major changes occur to NHL lineups such as injuries, scratches, or especially, starting goalies, once new information is received. Check back often for any changes, especially for late games.

Start Sit
Matt Carle  – TB Tyler Myers  – BUF
(3 pts, 2 on the PP, last 3 gms for high power offense) (Just 1 pt this season, 0 pts last 8 games)
Marc Staal  – NYR Mark Giordano  – CGY
(3 points, 6 SOG last 4 gms. Lots of ice time) (1 point this season. Tough opponent)
John Carlson  – WAS Dustin Byfuglien  – WPG
(Points starting to come)  (Will miss his third straight game)
Paul Postma  – WPG Filip Kuba  – FLA
(1G, 4 pts, 2 on the PP, in last 2 games) (Not putting up #’s yet. Sit if you have other options)
Ian White – DET Ryan Ellis – NSH
(Returns to the lineup tonight) (Still struggling. Scoreless in last 6 gms)

Start Sit
Jimmy Howard – DET Steve Mason – CBJ
(Hasn’t been great, but worth a start vs CGY) (Starts again tonight, but tough matchup vs LA)
Anders Lindback – TB Michal Neuvirth – WAS
(Has won 4 consecutive and 5 of 6 starts this season) (Tough to start any Caps goalie right now)
Jonathan Quick – LA Jhonas Enroth  – BUF
(Has struggled early, but is a good start vs CBJ) (Gets the start. Has not looked good in limited duty)
Brian Elliott  – STL Miikka Kiprusoff – CGY
(Gets the start vs team that is last in scoring) (1-3-2, 3.42 GAA, .859 Sv%. Tough opponent)

Remember, use this list as a guideline if you are debating between a few players to round out your lineup. Just because a star player appears on the “sit” list doesn’t necessarily mean you should sit that player if your other options aren’t decidedly better.

If you have any questions about your fantasy lineup, don’t hesitate to ask.

Good Luck!
