Here are your start / sit fantasy recommendations for the February 6th NHL games.
Please note that you should always start your star players. This list is here to help you if you have two similar players and are debating on which one to start. It can also help when deciding on whether or not to pick up a certain FA on days with a light schedule.
While a player may be a “sit” recommendation, he should still be put in your lineup over a player without a game. Accumulating stats takes priority over no stats at all.
Different factors go into picking start / sit candidates including strength of opponent, scoring categories, history vs opponent and sometimes, gut feelings. Take that into consideration before making your final decision.
Players are listed in no particular order.
NOTE: These recommendations are posted before the first game of the day. Some changes may be made if any major changes occur to NHL lineups such as injuries, scratches, or especially, starting goalies, once new information is received. Check back often for any changes, especially for late games.
Forwards
| Start | Sit | |
| Jamie McGinn – COL | Brenden Morrow – DAL | |
| (1G, 5 points, 13 SOG last 3 games) | (1st goal last game, but only 3 SOG all season) | |
| Tomas Plekanec – MON | Daniel Winnik – ANA | |
| (Points in 6 of 8 games. Getting plenty of chances) | (Has slowed down after hot start. 2 pts last 6 gms) | |
| Paul Stastny – COL | Brad Marchand – BOS | |
| (Slow start but has 5 points, 13 SOG in last 3 gms) | (Will miss tonight’s game) | |
| Rich Peverley – BOS | Ryan Nugent-Hopkins – EDM | |
| (Solid stats all around. Good #’s vs MON) | (Will not play tonight) | |
Defensemen
| Start | Sit | |
| Sheldon Souray - ANA | Alex Goligoski – DAL | |
| (2G, 6 SOG last 2 games) | (Scoreless, 5 SOG last 4 games. 3 pts all season) | |
| Brenden Dillon – DAL | Cam Fowler – ANA | |
| (Scoring not there, but will rack up other stats) | (Will miss tonight’s game) | |
| Dougie Hamilton – BOS | Tomas Kaberle – MON | |
| (No pts in 3 gms, but other #’s still there) | (Not doing much. Sit if you have other options) | |
| Justin Schultz – EDM | Trevor Daley – DAL | |
| (Still not owned in some leagues. Solid all around) | (Still scoreless on the season) | |
Goalies
| Start | Sit | |
| Viktor Fasth – ANA |
Semyon Varlamov – COL
|
|
| (Gets the start again. 3-0, 1.30 GAA, .946 Sv%) | (Has lost 4 of 5, allowing 14 goals in the 4 losses) | |
| Devan Dubnyk – EDM | Kari Lehtonen – DAL | |
| (Has been solid. 110 svs on 117 shots in last 3 gms) | (Only a sit because DAL has struggled on the road) | |
Remember, use this list as a guideline if you are debating between a few players to round out your lineup. Just because a star player appears on the “sit” list doesn’t necessarily mean you should sit that player if your other options aren’t decidedly better.
If you have any questions about your fantasy lineup, don’t hesitate to ask.
Good Luck!
