NHL Fantasy Start / Sit – 2/9

Pinterest

Here are your start / sit fantasy recommendations for the February 9th NHL games.

Please note that you should always start your star players. This list is here to help you if you have two similar players and are debating on which one to start. It can also help when deciding on whether or not to pick up a certain FA on days with a light schedule.

While a player may be a “sit” recommendation, he should still be put in your lineup over a player without a game. Accumulating stats takes priority over no stats at all.

Different factors go into picking start / sit candidates including strength of opponent, scoring categories, history vs opponent and sometimes, gut feelings. Take that into consideration before making your final decision.

NOTE: These recommendations are posted before the first game of the day. Some changes may be made if any major changes occur to NHL lineups such as injuries, scratches, or especially, starting goalies, once new information is received. Check back often for any changes, especially for late games.

Jannik Hansen – VAN Dainius Zubrus – NJ
(2 G, 3 pts, 7 SOG in last 2 games) (Will miss today’s game with an injury)

Start Sit
Andy Greene – NJ Kris Letang – PIT
(2 G and 6 pts – 4 on the PP – in the last 4 games) (Will miss today’s game)
Sheldon Souray – ANA Ryan Whitney – EDM
(3 G, 4 pts, 10 SOG last 4 gms. Solid all-around #’s) (Not playing well. Sit if you have other options)
T.J. Brodie – CGY Tyler Myers – BUF
(Numbers starting to improve with increased TOI) (No pts since season opener. -9 last 6 games)
Dmitry Kulikov – FLA Brad Stuart – SJ
(Better lately after a horrible start) (Helping with hits and bl shots, but not much else)

NOTE: Some goalies for the later games have not been confirmed yet. Check back later  as the Start / Sit for the goalies will be updated once goalies have been confirmed.

Start Sit
Viktor Fasth  – ANA Al Montoya – WPG
(Tough road opponent, but hard not to start right now) (Gets the start against a tough team on the road)
Cory Schneider  – VAN Ben Bishop – OTT
(Looked good last game. Faces weak opponent) (Starts today. Looked bad in his only other start)
Chris Mason  – NSH Mathieu Garon – TB
(Starts for hot tm. Won @ MIN in only other start this yr) (Draws the start against a tough opponent on the road)
Braden Holtby – WAS
(Caps goalies struggling. Sit if you have other options)

Remember, use this list as a guideline if you are debating between a few players to round out your lineup. Just because a star player appears on the “sit” list doesn’t necessarily mean you should sit that player if your other options aren’t overwhelmingly better.

If you have any questions about your fantasy lineup, don’t hesitate to ask.

Good Luck!
