Rooting out the guys that are likely still available in your league. My baseline for these players is 40% owned or under.
Alex Steen – St Louis Blues
1 G, 9 A, 2 PIM, 5 PPP, 45 SOG
If there is anyone that’s profiting from the Vladimir Tarasenko rush as much as Tarasenko, it’s Steen. He’s right up there around a point a game, and if you believe that Tarasenko will continue to produce, Steen is going to rack up the points by association. He hasn’t been the big point grabber in the past, but with a winger on such a hot streak…
Andy Greene – New Jersey Devils
2 G, 6 A, +5, 12 PIM, 5 PPP, 15 SOG
He’s already surpassed his goal total from 56 games last season. He’s halfway to his goal total of two seasons ago. But he’s got 1 PPG and 4 PPAs. He also already has a SHG. Greene’s responsibilities on a Devils team that has to band together to pick up the slack from losing their C from last year have increased. And so far, he’s been up to the challenge.
Saku Koivu – Anaheim Ducks
4 G, 9 A, +11, 4 PIM, 10 SOG
Are you kidding me? Koivu only has a 32% own rate? A guy that plays on a line between Corey Perry and Bobby Ryan is going to be an assist machine, even if only by accident. But add to that the fact that Saku has a high skill level himself, and that means he’s a no-brainer.
And for my goalie this time, I’m stretching the 40% owned number all the way up to 56%…
Viktor Fasth- Anaheim Ducks
5-0-0, .932 SV%, 1.72 GAA, 1 SO
This Swede has come in and wrestled the starting job in Anaheim away from Jonas Hiller, thanks to a lower-body injury. Well, looking at those numbers he’s put up so far, the Ducks have to be happy with his play.
There it is, players. Hope all your skaters are putting up points, and your goalies aren’t giving them up.
