Week 1 is in the books, and there is definitely plenty of things to talk about! The layout I will be writing up my articles in the future will be great for DFS and season-long players alike. I will be highlighting all the injury news that has happened throughout the week and how that impacts us fantasy-wise. I’ll go over a handful of waiver wire targets to take a look at. And finally, I will attach a chart that shows how many times a team gives up 6x the players value broken down by position. This chart is precious for DFS players. And it is still helpful for season-long players as well.
There have been some injuries that have happened with big-time fantasy impacts. We will start with the most recent in KAT dislocating his wrist. Naz Reid will be his direct replacement. But it won’t be someone to jump after unless you are in a deep league. What is going to end up happening is the Wolves will run a lot of small-ball lineups. The 2 players you want to target will be Anthony Edwards and Jarrett Culver.
Marquese Chriss broke his leg, which will shrink up an already small rotation in Golden State. Once Draymond Green gets healthy, it will take away the fantasy relevance of the depth behind Chriss. But until Green is healthy, James Wiseman will pick up more usage and continue his fantastic start to his rookie season. But overall, Chriss’s injury will give Wiggins, Curry, and Oubre even more usage. You could look at Paschall or Looney in deeper leagues to get more run. But overall, Golden State is going to run a tight rotation. It might not be a bad idea to throw out a trade for Oubre or Wiggins before they start to heat up.
Cody Zeller broke his hand and is going to be out for a while. This is an injury we can take advantage of. Bismack Biyombo is a solid pickup because he is a great fantasy point per minute player. A deep sleeper I would stash if you have the room is Vernon Carey. If Vernon gets some run before Zeller comes back, Zeller may not have a job. Overall what I think will happen is they run a lot more with Graham, Rozier, and Ball. The biggest beneficiary will be PJ Washington, who originally was playing power forward and center. And they were trying to have him play center more this year. Zellers injury will force PJ to play a lot more center. And PJ Washington is my favorite target to trade for right now.
Spencer Dinwiddie tore his ACL and is done for the season. This not only will increase the usage of KD and Kyrie, but Caris LeVert gets a massive upgrade! LeVert will thrive in this role and is going to be a hot target for fantasy owners.
The top 5 Waiver Targets outside of the players I mentioned above are as follows…
Below is my chart that shows how many times a team gives up 6 times the player’s value to each position. That means that if you have someone like Lebron James, he needs to put up a ton of points compared to Andrew Wiggins. This is a great tool to use for DFS. And you can use this tool to help you make your daily season-long lineup decisions when choosing between multiple players. This chart will be updated up to every Saturday. Once we get more games under our belt, I will have the chart color-coded making it easier to read. And once we start to gather more information, I will breakdown the chart and talk a little bit about the players it affects.
