Now that the PGA season has completed the first month of games, I thought it would be interesting to see how the Average Draft Picks stack up against the PGA’s current top-scorers. In the below table, you will find the top 50 scoring players in the PGA – according to the DSE scoring system – and where they were drafted in start-up leagues this year.
As the season progresses, I will post an updated table that will highlight players who climb or fall in the rankings. Any player taken in the Free-Agent rounds of the start-up draft whose +/- differential is greater than or equal to 10 has been marked in BOLD, whereas any player whose +/- differential is less than or equal to -10 has been ITALICIZED.
Here is a list to the DSE start-up ADP list.

Takeaways:
Carlos Ortiz
Carlos Ortiz ended the 2020 season on a high note and has quickly gotten back to that form in the 2021 season. Look for Ortiz to continue to post solid rounds for the remainder of the season. Ortiz was an absolute steal at going in the 6th round.
Patton Kizzire
Patton has been up and down so far in 2021. Considering his 8th round draft status this season, owners should be pleased with his performance thus far, but expectations for the remainder of the season should be tempered.
Peter Malnati
When Malnati makes the cut back to October 2020, he generally finishes in the top-20 of the tournament. So far in 2021, Peter has made two of the three tournaments he’s played and continued that trend of top-20 finishes in both tournaments. Finding Peter in the 8th round in this season’s drafts has been a stroke of brilliance for his owners.
Doug Ghim
For being a 9th round pick, Ghim has produced better than expected this season. Missing the cut in the Sony Open but then charging back to tie for 5th in The American Express. Ghim may fall back down to reality as the season progresses and could be a good sell-high candidate for his owners.
Dustin Johnson
Having only played in one PGA tournament so far this season, Johnson is off to a slow start for owners who drafted him. Dustin did win the Saudi International Tournament recently, but since that isn’t the PGA circuit, his owners could merely watch as fans and make other arrangements for their teams. As we advance, look for Dustin to climb back up the leaderboards quickly.
Rory McIlroy
Rory opened the 2021 season with a non-PGA tournament, which is cause for his current rank of 35 in total points. However, owners should not worry because as the season progresses, McIlroy will certainly climb the ranks quickly.
Bryson DeChambeau
Like Dustin Johnson, Bryson played in the Saudi International, which caused his ranking to drop to 42. Expect another quick ascension as DeChambeau plays in more PGA tournaments this season.
Matthew Wolff
Wolff is off to a rocky start, similar to how he ended the 2020 season. Wolff withdrew from the Farmers Insurance Open after an opening-round 78 citing a hand injury. Owners should proceed with caution as Wolff may be in for a few more shaky performances.
