Here are your start / sit fantasy recommendations for the February 12th NHL games.
Please note that you should always start your star players. This list is here to help you if you have two similar players and are debating on which one to start. It can also help when deciding on whether or not to pick up a certain FA on days with a light schedule.
While a player may be a “sit” recommendation, he should still be put in your lineup over a player without a game. Accumulating stats takes priority over no stats at all.
Different factors go into picking start / sit candidates including strength of opponent, scoring categories, history vs opponent and sometimes, gut feelings. Take that into consideration before making your final decision.
NOTE: These recommendations are posted before the first game of the day. Some changes may be made if any major changes occur to NHL lineups such as injuries, scratches, or especially, starting goalies, once new information is received. Check back often for any changes, especially for late games.
Forwards
| Start | Sit | |
| Mason Raymond – VAN | Ryan Smyth – EDM | |
| (1 G, 4 points in his last 3 games) | (2 points all season. Not worth a start right now) | |
| Derek Roy – DAL | Mike Fisher – NSH | |
| (5 points, 9 SOG last 4 games) | (Just 1 point in his last 10 games) | |
| Tyler Ennis – BUF | Milan Michalek – OTT | |
| (3 G, 5 points, 13 SOG in last 4 games) | (Just 1 point in his last 6 games) | |
| Saku Koivu – ANA | Travis Zajac – NJ | |
| (13 pts in 11 games this season. Only 38% ownership) | (0 G, 1 point last 10 games) | |
| Jiri Tlusty – CAR | Chris Neil – OTT | |
| (3 G, 7 points, 13 SOG last 5 games) | (Helps if your league includes hits, but not much else) |
Defensemen
| Start | Sit | |
| Ryan Suter – MIN | Nick Leddy – CHI | |
| (#’s starting to come. Should be good to get back in) | (Scoreless in his last 6. No numbers anywhere else) | |
| Dan Girardi – NYR | Raphael Diaz – MON | |
| (Returned to the lineup and doubled his season pt total) | (Just 1 point, 0 PPP, in last 5 games) | |
| Andy Greene – NJ | Dennis Seidenberg – BOS | |
| (Still FA in over 50% of Yahoo! leagues. Ride the hot hand) | (Helps with secondary categories, but pts not there yet) | |
| Kevin Bieksa – VAN | Brad Stuart – SJ | |
| (2 G, 3 points, 6 SOG last 3 games) | (Scoreless last 7, 2 points all season) | |
| Ryan McDonagh – NYR | Filip Kuba – FLA | |
| (3 points last 2 games. Helps in most categories) | (Points aren’t there yet… Just 2 pts this season) |
Goalies
NOTE: Some goalies for the later games have not been confirmed yet. Check back later as the Start / Sit for the goalies will be updated once goalies have been confirmed.
| Start | Sit | |
| Roberto Luongo – VAN | Scott Clemmensen – FLA | |
| (Goes for the Canucks tonight and has been good) | (Hard to recommend starting ay FLA goalie right now) | |
| Braden Holtby – WAS | ||
| (Shut out FLA last start. Good start if no better options) | ||
Remember, use this list as a guideline if you are debating between a few players to round out your lineup. Just because a star player appears on the “sit” list doesn’t necessarily mean you should sit that player if your other options aren’t overwhelmingly better.
If you have any questions about your fantasy lineup, don’t hesitate to ask.
Good Luck!
