These expansion draft rules are meant to expand previously retracted baseball leagues from 12 teams back to the original 14-team leagues.
Rules
- Rosters will be expanded by 10 spots to allow existing teams to make necessary moves.
- Trading WILL BE ALLOWED before the expansion draft.
- All teams in the league protect 19 players from their active/bench (37.5% of the team’s 50-man roster).
- Players in the minors eligible section of the roster are NOT protected.
- All teams also must submit a 10-player (ranked 1-10) secondary list so that after 4 players are picked from that team’s roster, the top 6 on that secondary list will also be protected.
- The 10-player secondary list can be from anywhere on the teams’ roster.
- Teams can only lose a maximum of 8 players total.
- The 8 lost players will count as “cuts” for each team.
- Any lost credits during the expansion draft will not be counted against the teams in the expansion draft.
Draft
- The entire draft will take place on a Google Sheet monitored by the league commissioner and/or DSE trusted volunteers.
- Snake Draft.
- Expansion teams get 48 picks each (a randomizer decides who goes first).
- The losing team in the coin toss gets 4th overall pick, and the winning team gets 6th overall pick in the standard draft.
League Perks
- Re-implementing of three (3) IL slots for that season.
- Allowing pre-expansion trading for that season.
- Increased FCFS numbers (125 to 175) and FAAB budgets ($500 to $700) for that season.
