Dropping (aka: Orphaning) a team.
Dropping (Orphaning) team(s):
People who drop 25% or more of their teams (in any one sport) will be blocked from joining a start-up or purchasing another orphan (in all sports) for one full year.
Q: Does this new policy replace the old policy of being unable to purchase anything until my orphans are sold?
A: Yes. The old policy will no longer be needed because this new policy replaces it.
Q: What does it mean exactly?
A: If you have 7 baseball teams and decide to drop 2+ teams, you will be blocked from purchasing any orphan or joining any startup for one full year in all sports (i.e.: football, basketball, hockey, soccer, NASCAR, golf).
Q: How will I know when my block is finished?
A: We have a Google sheet that will monitor all leagues/all sports >> https://bit.ly/DSEOwners_Orphans
Q: Why 25%?
A: Based on the average number of teams a typical DSE manager has in any one sport, it is 4.5 (say 5 as a rounded-up number), and 25% of that is 1.25 (let's say 2 as a rounded-up number).
Q: Why am I being blocked from buying into another sport if I drop 25+ % of my baseball teams?
A: Orphans in dynasty sports happen; we understand this. We are trying to weed out the chronic owners who buy and drop teams year after year. Implementing the blanket one-year block will gradually lower the overall orphan rate in all leagues.
Q: What if I decide to drop 25% but buy back enough teams to lower my drop % to under 25%?
A: In this scenario, you're one-year block will be removed.
Q: What dates will be used for the one-year block?
A: The start date will be the date you reach the 25%+ threshold, and the end date will be one full year from that date.
Q: What if I drop 25% of my baseball teams and then 25% of my teams in football - for example? Does the one-year block reset or stay with the original date?
A: In this scenario, the one-year block resets to the latest date.
Q: Do private sales count as "orphans?"
A: No. As a side note, private sales must not be discussed publicly outside of mentioning you have teams for sale and to contact you directly via DM. Posting of rosters, links, and/or championships won is not permitted in any DSE main or league room. All such conversations must be done privately between the buyer and seller via direct messages.
Credits (Minors & Veteran Credits)
Credits are obtained in two ways:
Minors Credits - players selected in the minors eligible or first-year players draft rounds.
- Basketball and hockey those are rounds 1 thru 3.
- Football those are rounds 1 thru 4.
- Baseball those are rounds 1 thru 7 in year 1; rounds 1 thru 5 in year 2; rounds 1 thru 3 in years 3+.
Veteran Credits - players who stay on your roster for 3 consecutive years without being traded or dropped. Each off-season players "contract" status in Fantrax will advance from 0 to 1 to 2 to C. Once a player receives a 'C' as the contract status they are considered a credit.
What happens if I have a skipped pick?
Skipped picks are a direct result of non-roster management during the draft. As a result, we DO NOT substitute or swap-in players for skipped picks. If you have a skipped pick, you lose that pick during the draft and will need to claim a player after the draft.
Buying an “on sale” or “deal” orphan.
If you purchase an orphan that is either "on-sale" or make a reasonable offer that is accepted at the end of the "deal," a deposit of up to $50 will be added to your buy-in in the first year after the expiration of the "deal."
Example 1: If you purchase an orphan for one year for $115.00 ($100 plus a $15 deposit), your year two buy-in will be $135.00 ($100 plus an additional $35 deposit).
Example 2: If you purchase an orphan for three years for $295 ($5 below the minimum buy-in price), your year four buy-in will be $150.00 ($100 plus an additional $50 deposit).
How are traded picks from the previous season handeled?
When you (or the previous owner) trade away future draft picks you MUST cut down to accommodate those traded picks even if that means you cut past your keep number.
Example: Your off-season keep number is 46 (in a 50-player league) but you traded away your 5th round pick, you MUST cut down to 45 in order for you to be allotted 5 rounds of picks.

BASEBALL OFFSEASON
How many players do I need to cut?
- Keep 25 + Credits
What are credits?
Credits are a unique way for DSE owners to be rewarded for drafting in the minors draft and/or retaining players for an extended period of time. Credits are awarded in one of two ways:
- Drafting a player in the “Minors Draft” or "Green M Players" rounds.
- Retaining a player on your roster for 3 consecutive years.
What players are not credits?
- Any player with a 1 or 2 in their “Contract” column
- An easy way to figure out how to cut properly is to keep 25 “1’s” or “2’s”
Are players in the minor section on Fantrax automatic keepers?
No, minor slots do not provide player protection, they are just roster spots. The only keepers are the 25 you choose + credits.
Am I allowed to trade draft picks?
Yes! You can trade current and future season draft picks.
What happens if my league has “orphan,” or “abandoned,” teams that don’t sell?
We at DSE will make every effort to find new owners for any “orphan,” or “abandoned,” teams during the off-season. In the
- The league must have at least 12 paid owners
- There must be an even number of orphan teams (unless it is a ROTO league)
- All members of the league must agree to play in a smaller sized league with contracted payouts according to the new league size
When does my roster need to at the league max?
Typically 1 to 4 days prior to the fantasy season starting the league max will be set by the league commissioner. The exact day of each sport will be posted on Slack in the main rooms (ie: #dsebasell, #dsefootball, #dsehockey, #dsebasketball, etc.).
Does my “KEEP Number” include minors?
Yes! The "KEEP" number that is posted on the Fantrax forums is the total number of players you can keep this season.
How do I know who my credits are?
There is a column labeled "Contract" on your Fantrax team page. In this column, you will see either a 1, 2 or C for every player on your roster.
- Any player with a 1 or 2 has been on your roster for either 1 or 2 consecutive years
- Any player with a "C" is a player who has been on your roster for 3 or more consecutive years or was drafted in the first 3 rounds of a draft
- NOTE: This information is updated in the off-season only.
What is the off-season process?
- Full payment is made for your team through Leaguesafe.com.
- Your team will be permitted to cut.
- After cuts are complete, you will be permitted to trade.
- When all league owners have made their full payment, a 5-7 day time clock will start to complete cuts depending on time constraints.
- The draft will start two days after the last cuts are made.
When does the off-season end?
The off-season ends on the first day of the new season.
Off-Season Waivers
During the DSE off-season, all players remain on a rolling free-agent bidding system. What that means is there are no First Come, First Serve (FCFS) free agent moves. Any bids made for players in the off-season will automatically be deducted from your yearly FAAB budget. Every day at 9 am ET, Fantrax will process all claims and immediately place all players back into free-agent bidding.
What if I accidentally cut the wrong player?
Contact your league Admin via Private Message (PM) within 24-hours, and we can reverse the mistaken drop. This service is ONLY available during the off-season. Any drops made during the season will not be reversed.
What happens if my league has less than 12 paid owners? Do I get refunded, and if so, when?
We at DSE will make every effort to fill all leagues. However, if a league does not get at least 12 paid owners, we will refund your buy-in for that season. Since our goal is to get the league filled, we will wait until the last possible day before folding, canceling, a league, and processing refunds. Generally, the decision to fold a league won’t happen until 1 week before the regular season. Refunds are processed through Leaguesafe.com and can take 4-7 business days.
Where do I find my KEEP (or cut) number?
KEEP numbers will only be posted on our hosting site (www.fantrax.com) on your league HOME PAGE under FORUMS.
What happens if I don’t cut down my roster on time?
Pre-Draft
There will be a HALF your remaining Free Agent Acquisition Budget (FAAB) penalty deducted from your yearly FAAB for each day you are not at, or below, your KEEP number for every league.
If you either reach ten (10) consecutive days or run out of FAAB money - whichever comes first - without reaching your KEEP number in any league, you will be removed from the team and the league, without receiving a refund, for violation of the Dynasty Sports Empire (DSE) Terms of Service (TOS) agreement. For the full list of the DSE TOS, click here.
Max-Roster Cut Date (prior to the season start date)
Your roster will be ILLEGAL and will not accumulate points/categories until you fix your roster. Admins will NOT retroactively fix your roster for any reason unless you previously contacted the league commissioner prior to the cut-down deadline.
When do I need to cut?
Each league will have a different cut date based on when the league fills. However, all cut-down times are ALWAYS Noon ET. Check your league's room chat (either Slack or Fantrax or both depending on the sport) for your exact cut-down date.

BASEBALL DRAFT
Am I allowed to trade draft picks?
Yes! You can trade current and future season draft picks.
Where do we draft?
We draft online at Fantrax.com. The standard draft is a slow draft, with a 2-hour clock. The draft sleeps between the hours of 12 AM ET and 10 AM ET.
Fantrax does not offer a draft option from its current version of the app, but the web browser works very well on both Smartphones and PCs.
What happens if my clock runs out?
We encourage all our owners to pick as quickly as possible, but we understand real-life issues that prevent this from happening. If your full clock expires, you will receive the top player in your queue. If you did not set a queue, Fantrax would use ADP to select your next player. If you time out on back-to-back picks, you will be placed on auto-draft by the system and manually remove the function in the draft room.
If your time expires during the first 3 rounds of the draft and the system auto-picks an "illegal" player, you will be allowed to replace the illegal player at the end of the third round. An "illegal" player would be a player who is not minor eligible.
How long do drafts last?
Most leagues will take around two weeks to complete their startup drafts. Returning leagues are usually 10 days long. These time frames are not an exact science but are general averages. The more involved you and your league mates are during the draft process, the quicker the draft process will move.
What are the different color flags I see in Fantrax?
Fantrax
uses 6 different color flags (red, green, blue, yellow, grey, black). Each
color is used for different designations.
Red = injury
Blue = not on a team
Green = not on a 40-man roster
Yellow = suspended
Grey = inactive
Black = deceased
What if I want to draft a player who “should” have a green flag but actually has a red flag?
As long as the player is designated as “Minors Eligible” by Fantrax, their flag's color does not matter. "Minors Eligible" players are designated with a Green M.
What happens if I make an “illegal” pick during the minor’s rounds of the draft?
Every team is allowed one (1) do-over pick during the minor's rounds.
- In basketball and hockey, the minor's rounds end at round 3.
- In baseball, the minor's rounds end at round 7 in year 1, round 5 in year 2, and round 3 in years 3+.
If the person selecting after you make a selection, the pick(s) made after you will NOT be reversed, and those players cannot be chosen as your replacement pick.
What if my “illegal” pick was from timing out?
If your illegal pick was from a time-out, you still get a do-over, but you must wait until the end of the minor's rounds before making your replacement pick.
- In basketball and hockey, the minor's rounds end at round 3.
- In baseball, the minor's rounds end at round 7 in year 1, round 5 in year 2, and round 3 in years 3+.
Can I set up auto-pick if I am unable to access my phone/PC?
Yes, your league mates will appreciate the auto-pick if you know you will not be available. Be sure to set your queue in the Fantrax draft room. NOTE: Be sure you read all the options as Fantrax has a “fill open roster” option, which will not follow your exact queue. For more questions, please contact an Admin on Slack (https://dynastysportsempire.slack.com/).
I have more draft picks than roster spots, do I lose my extra picks?
No, roster sizes are increased in the preseason to allow for extra players that may have been added through lopsided trades (2 players for 1, 3 picks for 1, etc.). Leagues will be changed back to the actual roster size 1 to 4 days before the season starts. NOTE: Your lineup will be illegal until you are cut down to your leagues' actual roster size and will not accumulate points.
During the off-season, leagues will show more roster spots in the league settings. This is NOT your maximum roster size. Please refer to your league message forum on the Fantrax home page for the correct league maximum roster size.
Who can I draft in the first 3 rounds?
Any player with a GREEN M in Fantrax can be selected during the first three rounds of the draft. NOTE: You can select GREEN M players in any round of the draft, but ONLY those players can be selected in the first three rounds.
What happens when I have back-to-back time-outs during the draft?
After two (2) consecutive time-out picks you will be placed on auto-pick
What happens if I trade away my picks for next season?
In the event, you trade away draft picks for the following season, you will be SHORT players from filling out your roster the following season after the draft is completed. HOWEVER, you will be able to fill out your roster by adding players from the player pool using either FAAB or FCFS claims. DSE awards the exact number of ROUNDS, not PICKS, based on your kept players minus your league's max roster. Each team will ALWAYS receive rookie/minors rounds regardless of their keep number.
What happens if I trade for more than 5 additional picks next season?
Each off-season DSE will expand the roster max by 5 additional slots to accommodate rookie/minors draft rounds. In the event you trade for more than 5 additional picks it is up to you each owner to make the appropriate number of cuts to accommodate those additional picks. DSE commissioners will NOT count and/or calculate if each team has enough space for all their additional traded picks. If you miscalculate your roster space, the system will automatically SKIP your picks during the draft stating you are over the roster max. Sometimes this issue can be corrected by moving players to the minors section of your roster, in which case your DSE commissioner can grant you the skipped pick. However, if your minors section is full, you will lose that pick.
Additionally, those additional 5 slots will remain in effect until a few days before the season starts. Once the additional slots are removed, it is the responsibility of each team owner to cut down to the league's roster max or risk running with an illegal roster and not accumulating any points for game day.

BASEBALL IN-SEASON
What kind of waiver system is used?
- In all leagues, we use the Free Agent Acquisition Budget (FAAB) style of waivers, where every owner is given a FAAB budget at the beginning of the season. All waiver claims process the next day at 9 AM ET.
- All undrafted players will go to waivers for 24-hours after the conclusion of your leagues' Free Agent draft.
- All players will go-to waivers at the start of their respective games.
- Waivers run daily at 9 am ET.
- After the 9 AM ET waivers, all players will be available FCFS (first come, first serve) until the start of their game that day.
- Any players whose team does not play on any given day will go-to waivers at the start of the last game of that day
What is “Minors Eligibility Enforcement?”
After a grace period of 1 day has passed, the owner will be prevented from attempting to make all transactions except for moving the player out of the minors slot and dropping any player. Claims that are already pending, such as waiver claims, will not be canceled and processed normally.
Are there limits for starts, innings, or ABs?
No, there are no limits for any category in any of our leagues.
When do waivers open?
Waivers open immediately after the draft ends.
Is there a limit to how many players I can pick up?
This is a two part answer: Waivers vs. FCFS (First Come, First Serve)
The only limit to how many players you can pick up is based on your available FAAB budget for waivers. Once the FAAB budget runs out, you can no longer bid on players for the season. FAAB money is “use it or lose it”; if you have money left over when the playoffs start, that money does not carry over to the next season.
For FCFS, there is no limit on the number of players you can add throughout the season.
When do waivers close?
The waiver period closes on the first day of the playoffs at NOON ET. You can drop players during the playoffs, but you cannot claim players.
How quickly are trades processed?
Trades are processed immediately once all parties have accepted the trade on Fantrax unless the first real-life game of the day has started. All trades accepted by both parties after the first real-life game of the day have started will process after the last real-life game of the day.
Are these daily or weekly leagues?
- All “Roto,” “D,” "Deep" and “Cat” leagues are daily leagues.
What happens if I do not set my lineup daily?
DSE staff members will monitor all dynasty leagues throughout the season, and if an owner has been delinquent in setting up their lineups, they will be contacted both via Slack (https://dynastysportsempire.slack.com/) and email. Owners who do not maintain their teams properly after receiving a warning will be REMOVED FROM THE LEAGUE WITHOUT A REFUND.
I see Fantrax has projections listed on the site, are those accurate numbers to use for drafting and/or expectations?
We at DSE do NOT recommend using the projected stats as a realistic tool for expected points. Because of our unique scoring system, Fantrax does not project according to our scoring system. However, if you look at the previous year's points for all players, you will see that players' actual points were scored.

Typically 1 to 4 days prior to the fantasy season starting the league max will be set by the league commissioner. The exact day of each sport will be posted on Slack in the main rooms (ie: #dsebasell, #dsefootball, #dsehockey, #dsebasketball, etc.).
How many players do I need to cut?
Keep 12 + Credits
What players are not credits?
- Any player with a 1 or 2 in their "Contract" column
- An easy way to figure out how to cut properly is to keep 12 "1's" or "2's"
Are players in the minor section on Fantrax automatic keepers?
No, minors slots do not provide player protection, they are just roster spots. The only keepers are the 12 you choose + credits.
What happens if my league has less than 10 paid owners? Do I get refunded, and if so, when?
We at DSE will make every effort to fill all leagues. However, if a league does not get at least 10 paid owners, we will refund your buy-in for that season. Since our goal is to get the league filled, we will wait until the last possible day before folding, canceling, a league, and processing refunds. Generally, the decision to fold a league won’t happen until 1 week before the regular season. Refunds are processed through Leaguesafe.com and can take 4-7 business days.
What happens if my league has “orphan,” or “abandoned,” teams that don’t sell?
We at DSE will make every effort to find new owners for any “orphan,” or “abandoned,” teams during the off-season. In the event, we are unable to find a replacement owner for an orphan team, and the league has 10, or more, owners that league will qualify for contraction. Contraction means all the players on the orphan team will be put back into the player pool and eligible to be drafted during the FA part of the draft. For a league to qualify for contraction, however, there are guidelines:
- The league must have at least 10 paid owners
- There must be an even number of orphan teams
- All members of the league must agree to play in a smaller sized league with contracted payouts according to the new league size

NBA BASKETBALL DRAFT
Red = injury
Blue = not on a team
Green = not on a 40-man roster
Yellow = suspended
Grey = inactive
Black = deceased

NBA BASKETBALL IN-SEASON

FOOTBALL DRAFT
Am I allowed to trade draft picks?
Yes! You can trade current and future season draft picks.
Where do we draft?
We draft online at Fantrax.com. The standard draft is a slow draft, with a 2-hour clock. The draft sleeps between the hours of 12 AM ET and 10 AM ET.
Fantrax does not offer a draft option from its current version of the app, but the web browser works very well on both Smartphones and PCs.
How long do drafts last?
Most leagues will take around two weeks to complete their startup drafts. Returning leagues are usually 10 days long. These time frames are not an exact science but are general averages. The more involved you and your league mates are during the draft process, the quicker the draft process will move.
How do I pick-up NFL rookies?
Incoming NFL rookies are only brought into the player pool during each offseason and can first be acquired in the rookie draft. After the rookie draft is flipped to the FA draft, rookies fall into the entire player pool. After both drafts are completed, any remaining player in the pool is placed on waivers.
What happens when I have back-to-back time-outs during the draft?
After two (2) consecutive time-out picks you will be placed on auto-pick
Draft and Keeper considerations for non-startup leagues with credits
1. Each league starts with a roster max (42-50 players)
2. Each team starts with a "cut to" number, which represents the number of players they may keep (from 25 to 50, depending on the number of credits)
3. Before the draft is set, all players must cut to their cut to number.
4. After a player is cut, they are assigned draft picks in the upcoming draft
5. The draft picks are assigned as follows:
- All franchises are guaranteed 4 rookie draft picks (this would bring the roster to keepers + 4
- Any gap where keepers + 4 is lower than the league roster size (42-50) will result in FA picks to eliminate the gap
Example 1: In a 2nd-year league, teams will have a 42 player limit. A franchise will have 3 credits. So the "cut to" number is 29. That franchise will receive 4 rookie picks, bringing the potential roster size to 33. There will then be 9 FA round picks assigned to the franchise.
Example 2: In a 5th-year league teams will have a 50 player limit. Through trades and multiple years of keeping, a franchise might have a cut to a number of 48. If the franchise cuts to 48, that means the cut to + rookie number is 52 (remember, the franchise is guaranteed 4 rookie picks). So this franchise gets 4 rookie picks in the draft, but no FA picks.
Example 2a: Now let's take this same franchise in example 2, but assume they traded their rookie picks. Effectively, nothing changes. The franchise cut to number is 48. The franchise receives 4 rookie picks that have already been traded. So the keeper + rookies number is still 52, which is higher than the roster max. AS a result, this franchise still gets 0 FA picks.
Pick formula:
If Keepers + 4 rookie picks => roster limit then FA picks = 0
If keepers + 4 rookie picks < roster limit then FA picks = roster limit - keeper + rookie picks
Note that the rookie picks are always counted against your roster limit. Trading those picks does not alter this math.
Rule of thumb: If you want FA picks, you must cut at least 4 below your roster limit plus 1 more cut for each FA pick you want. (5 below = 4 rookie picks and 1 FA pick. 6 below = 4 rookie picks and 2 FA picks. etc.)
If your time expires during the first 4 rounds of the draft and the system auto-picks an "illegal" player, you will be allowed to replace the illegal player at the end of the fourth round. An "illegal" player would be a player who is not rookie eligible (designated by the Fantrax "Rookie" tag).

FOOTBALL IN-SEASON
When do waivers open?
Waivers open immediately after the draft ends.
What kind of waiver system is used?
In all leagues, we use the Free Agent Acquisition Budget (FAAB) style of waivers, where every owner is given a FAAB budget at the beginning of the season. All waiver claims process every Wednesday at 9 am ET.
Is there a limit to how many players I can pick up?
The only limit to how many players you can pick up is based on your available FAAB budget. Once the FAAB budget runs out, you can no longer bid on players for the season. FAAB money is “use it or lose it”; if you have money left over when the playoffs start, that money does not carry over to the next season.

Am I allowed to trade draft picks?
Yes! You can trade current and future season draft picks.

What happens if my league has “orphan,” or “abandoned,” teams that don’t sell?
We at DSE will make every effort to find new owners for any “orphan,” or “abandoned,” teams during the off-season. In the event, we are unable to find a replacement owner for an orphan team, and the league has 12, or more, owners that league will qualify for contraction. Contraction means all the players on the orphan team will be put back into the player pool and eligible to be drafted during the FA part of the draft. For a league to qualify for contraction, however, there are guidelines:
- The league must have at least 12 paid owners
- There must be an even number of orphan teams
- All members of the league must agree to play in a smaller sized league with contracted payouts according to the new league size

When does my roster need to at the league max?

GOLF OFFSEASON
Am I allowed to trade draft picks?
Yes! You can trade current and future season draft picks.
How many players do I need to cut?

GOLF DRAFT
What are the different color flags I see in Fantrax?
Fantrax
uses 6 different color flags (red, green, blue, yellow, grey, black). Each
color is used for different designations.
Red = injury
Blue = not on a team
Green = not on a 40-man roster
Yellow = suspended
Grey = inactive
Black = deceased
Can I set up auto-pick if I am unable to access my phone/PC?

What happens if my clock runs out?
We encourage all our owners to pick as quickly as possible, but we understand real-life issues that prevent this from happening. If your full clock expires, you will receive the top player in your queue. If you did not set a queue, Fantrax would use ADP to select your next player. If you time out on back to back picks, you will be placed on auto-draft by the system and manually remove the function in the draft room.
