NHL Fantasy Start / Sit – 2/20

Pinterest

Only three NHL games today. Here’s the lite version of your start / sit fantasy recommendations for the February 20th games.

Please note that you should always start your star players. This list is here to help you if you have two similar players and are debating on which one to start. It can also help when deciding on whether or not to pick up a certain FA on days with a light schedule.

The list will also include key players who may miss a game due to injury or healthy scratch and/or a player who is returning from injury.

While a player may be a “sit” recommendation, he should still be put in your lineup over a player without a game. Accumulating stats takes priority over no stats at all.

Different factors go into picking start / sit candidates including strength of opponent, scoring categories, history vs opponent and sometimes, gut feelings. Take that into consideration before making your final decision.

Overall Yahoo! league numbers used for any ownership percentages referenced.

NOTE: These recommendations are posted before the first game of the day. Some changes may be made if any major changes occur to NHL lineups such as injuries, scratches, or especially, starting goalies, once new information is received. Check back often for any changes, especially for late games.

Start Sit
Michael Cammalleri – CGY Brandon Sutter – PIT
(Just 39% ownership. Solid start with a thin schedule) (Scoreless, 4 SOG last 4 after 5 gm pts streak)
Alex Steen – STL Dustin Brown  – LA
(Getting a ton of chances. Still under 70% ownership) (Just 1 point in his last 6 games)
Jamie McGinn – COL Alex Tanguay  – CGY
(3 G, 11 pts, and an impressive 45 SOG last 10 games) (Just 3 pts and 1 SOG in last 6 after a great start)
Jakub Voracek – PHI
(Pts starting to come in bunches. 9 pts in last 6)

Start Sit
Drew Doughty – LA Mark Giordano  – CGY
(Has been better lately. 3 pts – 2 on the PP – in last 2) (Still not putting up points)
Tyson Barrie – COL Luke Schenn  – PHI
(Has stepped up nicely. 1 G, 4 pts – 2 on the PP – in last 3) (Great if league counts hits/bk shts, but pts aren’t there)
Slava Voynov – LA
(Won’t hurt you in any category. Solid play on a light day)
Jay Bouwmeester – CGY
(Has been putting up slightly better numbers lately)

Goalies

NOTE: Some goalies for the later games have not been confirmed yet. Check back later as the Start / Sit for the goalies will be updated once goalies have been confirmed.

Start Sit
Tomas Vokoun  – PIT Semyon Varlamov  – COL
(Gets the start today. Should put up good #’s vs PHI) (Playing ok while facing a ton of shots, but tough matchup)
Jaroslav Halak  – STL
(Returns tonight. Get him in)

Remember, use this list as a guideline if you are debating between a few players to round out your lineup. Just because a star player appears on the “sit” list doesn’t necessarily mean you should sit that player if your other options aren’t overwhelmingly better.

If you have any questions about your fantasy lineup, don’t hesitate to ask.

Good Luck!
