From now until Opening Day, DSE will be offering player rankings in the form of Tiers. On a position-by-position basis, I calculated expected levels of production, then ran those numbers through the DSE point scoring system. Tiers help differentiate where significant drop-offs in production. Within each Tier, players are considered relatively equal in terms of expected season-long production. Our goal, at DSE, is to provide our players/owners with a quick reference by position to help determine value. By using Tiers, an owner can hopefully decide which player within a position Tier would be ideal for targeting with their next pick. Keep in mind, a Left Fielder in Tier 6 may score more points than a Catcher in Tier 3. Still, the catcher offers more value in terms of point differential because of availability and position scarcity.
