I thought it would be interesting to see how the Average Draft Picks stack up against the NHL’s current top-scorers. In the below table, you will find the top 50 scoring players in the NHL – according to the DSE scoring system – and where they were drafted in start-up leagues this year.
As the season progresses, I will post an updated table that will highlight players who climb or fall in the rankings. Any player taken in the Free-Agent rounds of the start-up draft whose +/- differential is greater than or equal to 50 has been marked in BOLD, whereas any player whose +/- differential is less than or equal to -10 has been ITALICIZED.
Here is a link to the DSE start-up ADP list.

Before being diagnosed with COVID-19, Grubauer has been performing at an elite level this year, posting the 2nd best fantasy numbers. Perhaps it’s Murphy’s Law or just another COVID-like kick in the teeth that as soon as the fantasy playoffs start, he’s unable to play for the next couple of weeks.
Pageau may outscore more goals this year than his last couple of seasons, but he is on pace for more assists and points scored this season. After being traded last year from the Senators, he’s settled in with the Islanders and has been consistent on the ice this year. Look for Pageau to continue posting top-50 to top-75 fantasy numbers for the foreseeable future.
Backstrom, a 33-year-old veteran, has already scored more goals and is on pace for more assists and points scored from last season’s numbers, reminding fantasy owners he is still a relevant piece in your daily lineups!
In only his 2nd season with the Rangers, Fox is on pace to outperform his last season numbers – which had him finish 4th in last year’s Rookie of the Year voting. Fox has also outperformed all defensemen, albeit by a slim margin, at this point this season. Fantasy owners should be grinning ear-to-ear with this young defenseman for the foreseeable future!
