When you think of fantasy sports, dynasty leagues may not be the first thing on your mind. Most fantasy players do not understand the idea of building a team to win year-after-year. The mindset of win now for instant gratification is, generally, an easier concept to wrap your head around. However, the true sports enthusiast will almost always gravitate towards dynasty leagues and that is where Dynasty Sports Empire (DSE) lives and breathes.
In the world of fantasy sports, there are 3 general types of games: redraft, keeper, and dynasty.
Redraft: The most common of fantasy leagues is a single-season league. In these leagues, you draft a team at the start of the season, manage those players throughout the year, then redraft a completely new team the following year. Often with a completely new group of fantasy owners.
Keeper: In a keeper league, you are allowed to retain a few players or as many players as the league manager selects, from the previous season, to remain on your roster for the upcoming season. The rest of the season works exactly as a redraft league in that you manage the players on your team for the season to win now.
Dynasty: A dynasty fantasy league is a league where you retain most or all of your players from year to year. This creates an environment that is very different from that of a redraft league. By enabling team owners to keep players and build a team over time, allowing for a much stronger sense of team ownership. Success is achieved with a greater sense of satisfaction.
The world of dynasty fantasy leagues, mildly similar to keeper leagues, allows a group of owners to build comradery, rivalries, and a good old fashion desire to claim bragging rights in your league year-after-year. Dynasty leagues are founded on each owner’s ability to scout, draft, trade, and make good, if not great, managerial decisions. The amount of research that goes into owning a dynasty team, in any sport, far outweighs that of the redraft player and goes further than that of the keeper league player. Like most current dynasty league players, DSE was founded by a fantasy guru.
Started in 2004 with four original members, as the New Jersey Fantasy Football League (NJFFL), then fantasy football guru, now DSE president, Lawrence Marino has grown DSE to over 350 active members. By offering the highest quality in dynasty games across all the major North American sports, DSE far outweighs its competitors by taking the smallest administrative fees, offering the largest payouts per league, and dedicated channels for not only every league but also each sport and global company communications.
I joined DSE in 2016, partially by luck when I was looking for a greater challenge after winning my fourth consecutive championship in a keeper baseball league. My decision to leave the keeper world and jump into dynasty sports has been interesting, to say the least, but, especially now in the world where sports may be the best cure for all, my only regret was not trying dynasty sports sooner.
In the time I’ve been with DSE, we have expanded our games to now include NCAA season-long keeper leagues, Developmental football dynasty leagues, and 30-team head-to-head points baseball dynasty leagues. That being said, we are far from done growing; in the next year, we’ll be further expanding by offering 4-sport keeper leagues, and Developmental basketball dynasty leagues.
As our community grows, so shall the types of games we offer. DSE is not your garden variety fantasy company. We offer premium games for the hard-core sports enthusiast. So here and now I ask the question – Do you think you have what it takes to dominate a dynasty league? If so, join the DSE community and test your fantasy knowledge against some of the best fantasy players around!
