A couple of weeks ago, I posted another lookback article comparing start-up league ADP to season ending rankings based on Dynasty Sports Empire (DSE) scoring. Today, this article is essentially the same idea but for the DSE First-Year Player Draft (FYPD) ADP across all 58 DSE IDP leagues. We also publish those ADP lists in our DSE Draft Tools section.
For this article’s purpose, I will be listing only players selected in the FYPD and where they ranked in the top-500 overall point scorers – according to the DSE scoring system.

Takeaways:
Justin Herbert, LAC, QB
Herbert, who was going fairly steadily in the third round FYPD, ended up finishing #8 overall in DSE scoring. Talk about tremendous value! You can, of course, make the argument that both Burrows and Tua didn’t play a full season and could have beaten Herbert in total points if either or both of them did, but in comparing ADP’s to where all three of these QB’s were drafted, I’ll take Herbert all day.
James Robinson, JAC, RB
Robinson ended up as the best point-scoring RB of all players taken in the FYPD and, on average, was going at either 4.11 or, in many leagues, undrafted. He beat out the pre-season consensus #1 pick of CEH by a wide enough margin to win the best-value RB pick from last season’s FYPD.
Justin Jefferson, MIN, WR
On average, Jefferson, who was the third WR selected in last season FYPD, outscored all FYPD WR’s last season. Jefferson was being selected around the end of the first round to early second round in most leagues but returned WR1 numbers for most of the season.
Jeremy Chinn, CAR, S
Chinn was the highest-scoring defensive player selected in last season’s FYPD, averaging late third to early fourth-round picks. Chinn was ranked 141 out of the top-500 point scorers in DSE leagues last season, narrowly beating out Patrick Queen, who was being selected, on-average, a full round earlier. Chinn is hands down the best defensive player value pick from last season’s FYPD.
